The York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to promote the well-being, best interests and protection of children and youth from abuse and neglect. As a leader within the child welfare sector, we aim to keep families together and partner with parents, caregivers and community to help create and sustain safe environments for children and youth, through equitable, child-centred, culturally aligned services.
Comprised of interdisciplinary teams of diverse professionals who push boundaries in support of family centered service, we engage with children, youth and families for a stronger, healthier community within York Region

Dress Purple Day 2025
Every October, the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Society (OACAS), Children’s Aid Societies, and Indigenous Child and Family Well-being Agencies across the province, raise awareness about the important role individuals and communities play in supporting children, youth, and families facing challenges through the Dress Purple Day campaign.

On Friday, September 19, 2025, the York Region Children’s Aid Society family came together for a heartwarming Fall Connection and Appreciation Gathering — a day filled with reflection, reconnection, and celebration!

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30 is nationally recognized as Truth and Reconciliation Day – A day to honour the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Recognition of this day is a vital part to the reconciliation process and understanding of the painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.

From downtown Toronto adventures and paintball battles to water park fun and overnight trips to Niagara Falls – our youth had an unforgettable season full of connection, growth, and pure summer joy!

National Truth and Reconciliation Week
September 22-26 is National Truth and Reconciliation Week.
Each September, we are called to unlearn, relearn, and honour the truths of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit families. Reconciliation begins with listening — to survivors, to knowledge keepers, and to the stories of the children who never came home.
