On December 11th, York Region CAS staff helped to pack a 20-foot moving truck and a fleet of vehicles full of holiday gift donations courtesy of the students, families and staff of St. Andrew’s College and St. Anne’s School as part of their annual Holiday Heroes Program.

In total, 124 gifts were donated this year, and the donations were for young men and women who live on their own, reside in group homes, or are away at school. In addition to the 124 donations, the colleges are also supporting five young people who are turning 18 soon and aging out of their foster homes.

Donations included items such as: laptops, housewares, toiletries, winter coats and boots, pet food, beds and linens, school supplies, and grocery gift cards.

York Region CAS staff will be delivering the gifts to the Voluntary Youth Service Agreement (VYSA), Ready, Set, Go (RSG) and Independent Living youth who were eligible for the program over the coming days.

The Holiday Heroes program has been running for 17 years now and has produced over $2 million in donations!

On behalf of York Region CAS, we would like to sincerely thank St. Andrews and St. Annes colleges along with all those involved for their generous donations and continued support.
