On December 9, York Region CAS staff helped to pack a fleet of vehicles, including a 20-foot moving truck, with holiday gift donations courtesy of the students, families, and staff of St. Andrew’s College (SAC) and St. Anne’s School (SAS) as part of their annual Holiday Heroes Program.

The Holiday Heroes program has been running for 18 years and has produced over $2 million in donations!

This year, a total of 116 youths were sponsored, and the donations will be going to deserving young men and women who either live on their own or are away at school. Donations included items such as: laptops, housewares, toiletries, winter coats and boots, beds and linens, school supplies, and grocery gift cards.

In addition to those who received gift packages, SAC and SAS will also be supporting four young people who are turning 18 and will be aging out of their foster homes by providing them with startup kits such as: kitchen supplies, small appliances, and more, to help reduce costs as they move into their own spaces.

Our Agency’s staff will be delivering the gifts to the Voluntary Youth Service Agreement (VYSA), Ready, Set, Go (RSG), and Independent Living youth who were eligible for the program over the coming days.

On behalf of York Region CAS, we would like to sincerely thank St. Andrew’s College and St. Anne’s School along with all those involved for their generous donations. We are extremely grateful for all that you do and for your ongoing commitment to support the children, youth, and families in our community.
