On Friday, September 20, York Region CAS hosted its annual Staff, Volunteer, and Foster Parent Appreciation Day at the Agency’s head office in Newmarket.

With over 120 people in attendance, the Appreciation Day was an opportunity for our Agency to recognize and honour the hard work and dedication of numerous individuals within our organization and their commitment to the wellbeing of the children, youth, and families within our community. Their work goes beyond our office walls, and we are so proud to have had the opportunity to highlight their longevity and passion in this field.

Staff, Volunteer, and Foster Parents, between 5 and 30 years of experience were presented with service awards as a small token of gratitude from the York Region CAS Leadership Team and accompanying Service Supervisors.

Along with the well-deserved recognition, participants had the chance to indulge in a variety of interactive activities throughout the day including booths hosted by internal employee resource groups and external partners. Internal booths included the likes of: Dazzling Directors, Black Staff Advisory Council, Social Committee and much more! External booths included: Work Perks, Sunlife, St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dogs etc. Each booth had their own special way of welcoming participants and inviting them to learn more about them and their roles in relation to the Agency.

Delicious lunch options and mouthwatering ice cream dessert were provided for everyone attending courtesy of Big Z’s Food Truck. The truck served as a hub for all throughout the day! Sugar Pop Rentals also delighted with popcorn and cotton candy.

The fantastic musical stylings of Lucas Silveira kept the beat and good vibes flowing throughout the day with a mixture of classic favourites and new melodies, providing ample opportunities to toe tap the afternoon away.

For those in a sporty mood, this year’s event also featured inflatable games including basketball, axe throwing, football and soccer! It made for competitive fun between colleagues, and everyone was able to share a laugh.

On behalf of the York Region Children’s Aid Society, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all our Agency’s Staff, Volunteers, and Foster Parents! Your ongoing dedication and service to center the wellbeing of children, youth, and families make our community in York Region a better place.

We would also like to thank all our local event sponsors for their generous donations and making this event such a success. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
