On November 26, The York Region District School Board (YRDSB) held their annual SpeakOut event – an event that aims to educate and empower students in the 2SLBTQ+ community ranging from 14-18 years of age.
As a community partner that is committed to providing affirming services to 2SLGBQ+ children and youth, York Region CAS was invited to participate and engage with students by sharing more information about our Agency and the supports that we offer.
In addition, the event was not limited to just students. Our Agency representatives had the opportunity to also speak with teachers and administrators discussing our roles in our community engagement efforts and empowering youth to speak up for themselves with resources such as the “How to Advocate” booklet.
