On March 11, the York Region CAS Access to Information/Disclosure Team held a team day at the Newmarket Food Pantry where they had an opportunity to give back to the community by cooking some delicious Minestrone soup.

This is the second consecutive year that the team held their team day at the Community Kitchen C.E.R.E.A.L (Community Empowerment-Resource-Education-Awareness-Learning) Centre.

The Centre is a place where organizations can volunteer their time and collaborate with the Food Pantry to provide healthy food options for the Pantry’s clients.

Along with cooking wonderful soup, the team also stocked the Newmarket Community Fridge (438 Park Avenue, Newmarket, ON L3Y 1W1), with 50 bagged lunches that included ham and cheese sandwiches, veggies, a granola bar, yogurt, and an apple.

On behalf of York Region CAS, we would like to thank the Newmarket Food Pantry for giving us the chance to serve and make a direct impact on our community. We look forward to future opportunities to work together!
