December has been a busy month for York Region CAS youth and staff who had the opportunity to participate in exciting activities.

Below is a breakdown of everything that youth and staff were involved in throughout the month thus far:

December 3

OACAS Central Zone held a YouthCAN event at Canada’s Wonderland for Winterfest where 37 youth and staff from Jewish Family and Child Service, Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, Toronto Children’s Aid Society, Simcoe Family Connexions and York Region CAS were treated to an afternoon of rides, skating, cookie decorating and watching shows!

Youth from the various agencies had the unique chance to spend time together in small groups after having met at other events throughout the year.

December 17

12 youth and staff from York Region CAS attended a lunch at Jack Astor’s in Toronto where they shared laughs and talked about life before heading to the SIX Musical held at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.

The musical was great fun for everyone who attended and shared the amazing message of working together and uniting as women to be stronger and gain confidence.

December 18

The York Region CAS Youth Advisory Council held their end of year in-person get together at a Jumanji themed escape room. While the group initially thought that they would be stuck forever, they managed to escape with lots of teamwork and communication. As a reward, they all headed to dinner to enjoy a delicious meal.

December 20

York Region CAS hosted a Certification Day at the office where four youth attended and worked on attaining certifications in Smart Serve, Cannsell and Food Handlers so that they could become more prepared to join the work force.

On behalf of York Region CAS, we would like to congratulate all the youth who completed the certificate as part of this initiative or individually.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding our youth and upcoming events in the new year.
