This past summer, nine youth and two of our Agency’s staff had the honour of taking part in the Provincial YouthCAN Conference held at Trent University.

Ontario YouthCAN is the unifying voice for youth in care of Children’s Aid Societies in the province. It is dedicated to improving the quality of care for youth in Ontario’s child welfare system so that they are empowered, secure, and able to realize their fullest potential.

The theme of this year’s Conference was Belonging, and the event had more than 100 participants including youth attendees, chaperones, OACAS staff members and RESET (@helloreset) facilitators who came together for three fun-filled days.

Three of our youth also assisted in facilitation of the Conference as part of their role on the Provincial Youth Advisory Committee!

Youth enjoyed activities such as the silent dance, the UnTalent Show, opportunities to do crafts, meditate, play board games, and much more.

The experience was both empowering and educational, and our youth came back with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation.

A huge thank you to the organizers and sponsors of the Conference for providing this opportunity for our youth to grow and learn. And to our incredible youth ambassadors, we’re so proud of your continued hard work, dedication, and contribution!
