Our commitment to support families during COVID-19

The health and well-being of everyone in our community is of paramount importance and we recognize the continuing impacts the pandemic has on individuals and families including struggles with mental health, isolation from supports, financial constraints, and challenges in caring for children and family members.

We are making every effort to develop creative solutions to support families during these unprecedented times.

Family Emergency Planning for COVID-19

York Region Public Health and Social Services are asking parents and caregivers to plan ahead and make a Family Emergency Plan in the event somebody in your household gets infected with COVID-19.

This plan should include arrangements for an emergency caregiver in case you cannot care for your children due to self-isolation requirements or because you are too ill or need to be hospitalized.

If you think you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has it, use this self-assessment tool from the Province of Ontario to help determine how to seek further care.

We are all in this together, and the best advice we have to combat this virus is from our public health agencies. We recommend following all of the guidelines set out by public health in terms of hygiene and social distancing.
