Volunteers are valued members of our team! Each day, volunteers give their time to make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families.

You can volunteer with us by working with children, behind the scenes, or out in the community. We strive to match your skills and availability with a meaningful volunteer opportunity within York Region.

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer with YRCAS

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, with the exception of drivers who must be a minimum of 21 years old.

Steps to becoming a CAS volunteer:
  1. Complete a volunteer application
  2. Attend an interview
  3. Provide three references
  4. Provide proof of double COVID-19 vaccination
  5. Provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check
  6. Attend a three-hour orientation session
  7. Attend additional training if required depending on the volunteer position
Please note: At this time, all training takes place virtually.

On average, this process takes six to eight weeks from the date of application. Volunteers who will be driving clients will be required to provide additional documentation.

Orientation sessions run periodically throughout the year.
